Key Ingredients

Brewer’s Yeast contains a varied number of vitamins and minerals, all of which are important to mothers who are breastfeeding. The vitamins and minerals not only help to boost supply, but also to increase the immunity of mothers. The vitamins and minerals include: Selenium, Chromium, Potassium, Iron, Zinc, Magnesium, Thiamine (B1), Riboflavin (B2), Niacin (B3), Pantothenic Acid (B5), Pyridoxine (B6), Biotin (B7) and Folic Acid (B9). Brewer’s Yeast is known to also help relieve fatigue and “baby blues”

Oats are high in fiber and full of iron, protein and complex carbohydrates.

Wheat germ is beneficial because it contains zinc, which is a must for breastfeeding. Zinc aids the immune system and even helps to protect cracked nipples, a common occurrence when breastfeeding. Like brewer's yeast, it is also believed to help with postpartum depression.

Flaxseed has good fats and enzymes, which are important for increasing the content of breast milk.

Containing less than half the fat, but 67% more calcium than regular milk, oats milk has been found to also contain a wealthy supply of iron, which makes it the perfect drink to help combat the common maternal anaemia, which has been proven to have a direct effect on the amount of milk supplied in the breast.

Coconut products have been found to have antimicrobial properties that sink into the bloodstream and transfer to the baby via breastmilk. There is an increased antimicrobial properties found in mummies breastmilk, when they ingest coconut products. These antimicrobial properties will help protect baby even more from viruses and bacteria. A study published in 1998 in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has shown that lactating mothers who eat coconut products have significantly increased levels of Lauric acid and Capric Acid in their breastmilk. The milk supply has increased amounts of protective antimicrobials, which gives even greater protection to the nursing infant. Apart from these great protective benefits, different parts of the coconut used in Marian’s Lactation Boost products have also shown to help increase the thickness of milk supply.

Chia Seeds are an excellent source of essential fats, protein, calcium and iron – all of which are essential for breastfeeding mothers to help not just boost supply, but also to nourish the body with these essential minerals.

Fennel’s reputation for enhancing breastmilk is related to its natural estrogen-like properties. It helps increase the levels of prolactin (breastfeeding hormone). Fennel has also been found to help relieve symptoms of colic; to help a baby’s digestion, when the herb is passed through breastmilk from the mother to the infant.
